a highly scientific explanation of the occurance of shell fossils found in mountain regions
Act I
Ocean clothed Land for inches and miles
brachiopods (Ancestors) lounge languorous
Death gifts portals for Spirit;
lingering, shells remain.
Act II
sand sifts shells on ocean floor
on sand lay sand like lovers lie
the weight of generations press history like pages
down. pack tight,
sand turns Stone
suspending shells within.
Act III
plate techtonics bear mountains like fruit:
floors become peaks as inward turns out
Ocean sleeps deeply hushed to ice.
Act IV
awake!
stretching groaning glaciers crackle and crumble
picking sleep from eyes, ice tumbles
Mountain's first breath out of watery womb.
Act V
and ice:
melting
relaxing
receeding
to Ocean River Stream,
carry mountain tops to pebbles rocks and stones
within these morsels of mountain (once ocean floor):
bones of brachiopods (Ancestors) gracefully poised.

swimming elephants
one of the most blissful things in the world are elephants swimming in the ocean. i saw such things on a documentary about elephants in the andaman islands. if you can find the video (animal planet reveals asia) i urge you to watch it. what it must feel like for the beautiful giants to suddenly feel weightless. amazingly they are extremely graceful swimmers, impishly whispering that they are made for Oceans as much as they are for Jungles.

collection of collections (act I, scene i)

collecting is creating. language is collections of expression. history is collections of experience. grass is collections of blades. centipedes are collections of legs. landfills are collections of disuse. ecosystems are collections of creatures with shared intent. bodies are collections of cells and systems.
collecting is embracing. bells are bells if they ring, whether they are round or parabolic, brass or wood. skin is skin whether scaly and green or stretchy and brown or hairy and blue.
collecting is attracting. keychains attract keychains from strangers, friends, and far-reaching travellers. recycle bins attract cardboard from houses to cities. puddles attract water, like pilgrims to a sacred shrine.
collecting is aquainting. information/data/observations, samples and specimens, experience and memory. collecting is a process for becoming aware.
empiece
every blog has a beginning and from this beginning grows a blog.
i'm not sure how to start, so i'll just post something i have bits and pieces of already on a digital media: a brief glimpse of an obsession spanning feb-nov 2005 investigating the affinity we have towards collections and collecting.
